Back in a loooong time! Feeling nostalgic cause I finally took my personal laptop out to attend a zoom meeting w Lynn and the rest; the last time I did that was actually in Feb 2019? Before I changed to my current phone :O But hey I found a very old photo on my laptop (along with those 2015 memories in school when i studied with Mich):-
This was back in Oct 2015!! Years before I got my current avo and fattyseal as additional huggables :D Only thing I noticed was that my face is damn round already, how to get my face smaller again?
Anyway not sure why but.. I'm blogging from my phone whutttt. That aside, nothing much to update since the last post, other than having a really busy year and having really late nights and very little sleep during peak. Shan't rant cause I chose this so.. if really cannot take it anymore then it's a signnnnn~
But last year was the start of 'watching all your friends getting hitched one by one' year!! Haha attended quite a few weddings, hope I didn't miss out any..
PS, the first one was Huiting's wedding but the ones with her were really blur!! And weishan got married too; had fun being her bridesmaid along w Kary and the rest! And not forgetting Bev's, where I brought my laptop and change of clothes to OT in office, only to leave office on 15th morning (and back in the noon).
Choir peeps met up in Dec, and subsequently in March during Evan's wedding!! Supposed to catch up in May but given the current situation I think it is hard.. hopefully we all get to meet in July when Jessie gets married! :) though it will be awkz cause her hubby was my prisch classmate ooops.
Also working from home cause of the circuit breaker in place; our department actually started in Feb (right aft my off day haha) but went back in March cause I was really unproductive at home. But again, stopped going back a few days before closure and my stuff are in a mess in office :/ Also can't really interact with people.. initally there were occasional lunch with Huiyi and badminton sesh with the easties but now.. :( I do miss seeing people but please stay home and have the virus under control!!! Staying home one month is better than a lockdown afterall.
I am thankful for teams though! Works like telegram and we can send gifs!! Le batch also had a recent video conf over lunch; sooo glad to see them again tho I forgot to sceeenshot that haha. Hoping for more of these to push through this period!!
Also, back to bingewatch dramas. Cant believe I am clearing one full series over 1 - 2 weekends! Watched CLOY and moving on to Itaewon class, thanks to Netflix!! Also caught some other korean and HK dramas cause I need a break during the weekends. Especially if I had worked late every weekday :/
Contemplating whether to download audition again!! I heard AuditionSEA was gone but there is Audition Next Level which is the same??? Not sure if I can use my old accounts, i missed debbiiee and choco!! Also missed those good old days; cant believe I stopped for close to 10 years?!?! (Excluding the time when I played awhile when I was in TW). Watched some audi videos online (esp beatup mode) and I wanna try playing again!!! Though i will need to invest in a keyboard with flat keys haha.
Ok back to Itaewon class!! Promised myself that I will review some work tomorrow :/
How does one tell when is the time to leave? What are the signs?
Not sure if its just me but I've been having signs of being overly stressed out even before the actual peak. There were times when I really just want to not give any shit but remorse/guilt strikes back at the very next morning.
People tell me that I should just relax a little, take less work, etc. But the truth is I haven't been taking much new client work. Most of them are recurring because of the 3-year documentation cycle but I can't simply switch out of my engagement because I was the minion then and I'm the senior now (and not the preparer). It's my second year being a senior and though I'm moving towards a pure reviewer role, I face more pressure from both the top and bottom roles. And sometimes, I just have no time to clear something that had been outstanding for the longest time ever. And it's my fault (and will always be my fault) when I cannot deliver.
And I do get other signs, like:
(I) Fear of checking emails outside of working hours. It got worse with the citrix app cause the notification of xx unread emails just stresses me out whenever the notification icon pops out if I receive any new mail.
(II) Fear of getting comments which may suggest that my work was not the best that I could have done
(III) Fear of getting random chasers, both internal and external. Like if I really don't have the time, I can stay up till 3/4/5am once but I can't do that for the whole week just to meet timelines and expectations
(IV) Inertia to get myself to work / focus sometimes
(V) Bringing work home but ended up not being able to clear anything, but yet leaving all the lights / TV on while I KO on the sofa
(VI) "Writer's block" where I have something in my mind but I just cannot put words into my reports.
The easiest tell tale sign was that I was obviously missing out alot on family, friends and me-time. I'm in office from 9-11.30 usually and when I'm home it became a habit to just bathe / work / sleep (and some TV sometimes if I get lucky)
I wanna go on leave, but ironically every time I mention this, people will tell me that I've gone on leave this year already.. And it's just my 1-week Japan trip with K and 5-day cruise with my family. And before anyone throw shit at me, I've to mention that I didn't get any leave right up till I leave for airport (or when I did take leave I actually went back to office still). And both were in May.
And while I did some other days off (to leave only 5 AL to carry over and to not make it seem like I wasted all of my TOIL), I'm either in office or working from home.
It just struck me real hard recently cause I've never rested and it's just going downhill from here. Official leave block has been announced so.. :(
Even if I want to leave, where can I go?
-----
End if rant. Hopefully I get to clear my work till 3? If not I really think I'll be in trouble next week :(
And I've got another draft post which I never had the chance to update... I hope I can do that after peak!
Throwback to the last time when I actually got the chance to spend some time out with my family. :')
Yup, time is all I need to clear all those backlog sitting on my desk, house spring cleaning.. And most importantly, time and space to clear all thoughts.
Time will heal everything, literally. Including my poor knee :P
----
Back to blogging on my way home.. From work (on a Sunday, lol). Have probably 40 minutes anyway, rather than tsumming or surfing stuff that doesn't help I thought blogging might be a better option! Since this space isn't exactly open to all, it's always good to know that I'll have this space to rant anything I want, without having people to worry when I'm being moody.
Song of the day: CLC - 선 (Distance)
Saw this online yesterday and somehow I just cannot stop listening to it. Oh was also looping some of my Davichi's fave including It's okay, it's love - I honestly wonder if I wouldn't cry if I ever watch the drama again :'(
Omomo and all the other sad songs on my playlist.
But anyway it's April, which means it's the month where most people are leaving :( Though we all kinda know why people are leaving (we've had quite a few good colleagues leaving in the past few months, this was not common back in the past), it's still sad to know that they are leaving, especially when it's their last day. And those leaving are probably those whom my batch kinda hold close to heart, cause we worked with most of them since we joined the team.
Not sure if I'll be able to really say goodbye cause some of them are going for secondment for as long as two years. I honestly don't think I'll be able to stay on for that long, and also they themselves may not be returning if there's better opportunities overseas/elsewhere right :/ Blehhhh not exactly in the right mood given how much I wouldn't want some of them to leave :(
Also, the workload that we'll get.. I cannot even imagine. But I'll save that for another time when the going really gets too tough, especially if it results in more departures and handover.
That aside, I guess I'll need to learn how to manage my emotions. Been having pretty bad moodswings for the past few weeks and it's so annoying, even to myself. It's so obvious when I started running on the treadmill after a long while without stopping, and those recent walks outside of office to catch some fresh air.
And not to mention over exerting my poor knee after my run. It hurt so badly that it was difficult to walk (especially down the stairs omg sometimes I really wished I can teleport lmaooo). Tried walking on Friday to catch I-light cause it's ending this weekend but ended up with a swollen knee and rested over the next two days at home *facepalm. At least I got to walk around those exhibits again today! (I hope my legs don't give up one tmr)
But I know those walks aren't going to help much haha. Have to find a better way to keep my mood in check! Used to have Lynn and LG the last time around (I still rmb how they kept asking if I was okay while I was overseas with Lynn) but they probably don't have any context on this one. May be easier to tell LG about it but she's expecting her kid soon (like in a month's time?!) so I guess she probably won't have time to worry about me, till she gives birth. Oh wells ><
Shall try to keep my mood up, before my work quality suffers :S
Shall end this with the qotd and some photos taken!
Ps, I'll find time to replace the blog skin HAHA realised the original photos for the template are goneee.
Haha my mood today. Can't believe I'm blogging omw home (and I'm gna alight at my stop soon) But I guess I just need an avenue to rant it out!
Heh chill, not about anyone but I think it's just me inducing stress on myself.. Again! Been awhile since I had this #superstresseduntilwnacry so guess that's why I feel so choked up.
Saying this cause it's only the start of the work week but I'm like drowning in work, like literally! Not sure if I didn't plan my timelines well or I just simply forgot the need to budget time that things will drag.. Or I plan and budget already but everything still came back at the same time. The past (and the following weeks) are going to be pretty crazy!! Ok la, I totally deserved it in a way when I was complaining about not being busy.
Last week felt like the 2015 peak again, literally stayed every single day with only 2-3h of sleep :( and leaving office at 4ish in the morning (it can't beat the nights staying up to OT but the difference is having to wake up for work the next morn haha) thankfully Friday was not as bad and I got to drink awesome soju (which also indirectly caused the fatigue cause I was trying super hard not to show that I was dizzy after two cups!) And Emz mentioned she can finally feel that I was not stressed on Sat evening when I went to office cause.. #thenuaisreal!!!
Only to dai late in the night on Sat till Mon! Can't rmb how many times I dozed off while trying to do work! And I still got bombed today cause of client meetings and the need to complete one memo tonight (it's already 11 btw!!) I think I need to stay in my own room to live in seclusion for the next few hours while I rush out my work with limited wifi access liao.
Sighs. I need to stay focused foe the next few hours.. And for the rest of the week! But no still gna have dinner with Kary and Weishan tmr!!! #ineedmylife
Sidenote, Bryan was asking the housemates where this was taken..
Cause it was uploaded by yours truly without knowing how to geotag HAHA. But yay I managed to find the place in Taitung!! Ok la my memory didn't fail me too badly cause I remembered renting bikes to cycle around the park! Just that I cannot rmb the exact place where we parked the car (which got into a terrible mess when we tried to drive on the 🗻 route. :S
Actually the main reason for logging today was.. To note what I just watched!
Sounds like I'm damn free, but no. Not this week at least. Supposed to work over the night but after seeing the breakout.. Nope. Not going to stress myself tonight.
Was waiting to watch the repeat episode of my 9pm HK drama, afterwhich I chanced upon this Korean movie which I ended up watching till 4 plus in the morning. So for me to forgo sleep and work for this it should be quite awesome la. #justsaying
Anyway... It's called "The Crucible" / "Silenced", and it's stars Gong Yoo. I wouldn't deny that I switched to that channel cause of him but the story was good too!
(I'm too lazy to post the poster/plot cause it's difficult to do these on the phone)
Wasn't expecting it to be based on a true story (it's on Wiki) But wow it does reflects a lot about reality and how it's not as nice/wonderful/peaceful as we'd expect. Something to note in life lol.
That aside, this few weeks will be bad (after not having much work as compared to last time). Good in a sense that I have the hours to try hitting my KPI but oh wells I cannot expect much also given how rough the past year have been! Not gonna push the blame on luck but the only way is to work harder. Times are bad that I don't think I can just job hop in my field (and currently I still like my job), noting how some of my friends have yet to secure employment in their final semester :/
Just a random thought. Time to catch a quick sleep before a long day tomorrow working from home before/after yoga. Cannot man I'm literally expanding horizontally I myself can't even... :(
Edits: OHMY. This was last saved on 07/04/2015?!?! I can't remember if it was in April.. Sighs two years passed too quickly and I still have no time to update it!!
I'll just post whatever that's saved last time! Good ol'times :) and I can forget about blogging alishan/hualien/taitung and all of my grad trips cause I don't think I can remember the details and photos are probably stored somewhere in the laptop so I'll find time.. Somehow! Maybe I'll post the photos in chronological order heheh.
Too busy till I don't think I've logged in for damn long, though I did Dayre-d quite abit here and there till mid last year when I realised it's not a good thing if it can be easily searched on the Web. Lol.
Shall update another timeeee! **** (finally back to continue my posts! Been long but well I really want to finish up before work gets super busy and I still want to try doing Korea/TW grad trip.. think of skipping Alishan / Hualien & Taitung also ooops)
DAY 3: 新北投 / 淡水 / 漁人碼頭
The day with the least places to visit hehe :) Actually not very short day but well should be short enough to keep everything to a post.
Yup the day when we decided to visit the hot springs cause it was recommended by many, including clubber Yang who highly recommended it but for ladies just be careful lor, cause got a lot of old uncles who will be looking at you when you go to those public ones.
Hehehe so.. 新北投 bound!
Not very sure of the route there but well still tried to find our way around! Super sunny day I remembered but it was slowly becoming colder so at least won't sweat a lot!
Went into this museum around the area where we have to remove our shoes and walk around the old hot springs used in the past.
Sighpie it's already near the end of April!!!! Been super busy, and now I realised I've never set any goals for myself this year yet.. (and not anytime soon).
Feeling very meh this week cause I've got too much work and somehow cannot copeeeee.
And feeling bad cause I submitted my work to one senior, who told me he did almost the opposite when he was reviewing :(
This is me now. At 330am
.
And maybe after a while I'll be less nuaaaaa. Sighhhh
Finally had time to even log in my personal laptop. Been less busy after December.. or maybe not? Haha thought for once I'd be off-peak after December but My January and February seemed to pass so quickly without knowing. It's already March :(
Feels like I have yet to meet any of my own personal goals. I think I've also yet to set aside time to do my mid-year review oops. Planned to strike out some of the items on my to-do list, like....
1. Cleaning up my room
2. Exercise daily
3. Sleep early and have enough rest
4. Try to avoid work, as much as possible.
5 Watch a bit of drama :D
But hmm... Seems like nothing is working out. Planned to take 26th -4th off to do all of these, but I cancelled my leave on 26th because there is simply too many things that I have yet to clear (sucks to be slow) but somehow I realised I did not have time to do a proper handover of projects and I actually have work that was quite urgent (not sure if it is really that urgent but seems like it) and so I don't think I will really be enjoying my break.
Thus far, I don't think I have accomplished much - both personal and work wise. Tried to take my weekends off - been trying a few weeks but somehow I'll always end up working on Sunday nights when I realised that I have yet to clear some stuff. Did the same on Sunday too - trying to email seniors managers on the work status as well as any updates. Tried to do a bit of reading up for a client so that I can get wok done over the week, until I realised that I was supposed to be on leave. So I kinda ended up watching my drama ooops. Happened over the past few days as well, except that I get to wake up a lot later because my head really spins from the lack of sleep.
Been waking up close to noon, and I'll tell myself that I should do work before enjoying my day but somehow it did not work out. Like I will end up watching my drama or reading recaps.. anything but doing work. And when I finally decided that I should work, it will be too late in the night that I can feel my brain shutting down. Well I guess this is why most people say that it's very difficult to get the momentum going once I go on a long break - except that I am still in Singapore and that I will keep checking my emails to make sure that things don't screw up because I am away (like my work, client emails, etc). Cannot imagine how bad I will procrastinate over the week but I definitely need to clear some work over the weekends considering how packed I am next week. Tax town hall + chalet on Friday, chalet with Weishan and co on Saturday, and date with Michelle on Sunday. Really hoping that I don't have to miss these for work!
Other than that...
I've yet to clean my own room. HAHAHA forget it this is my failed plan every year. But at least I've been trying to exercise. Like y'know, work really makes people fat. And the fact that I prioritise my work over exercise contributed to my fats sighsssss. Also hoping that daily exercise can help to keep my migraine away! Though it is not exactly working before I haven't been sleeping early at all. Like I really work late at night instead of trying to clear things in the day. Point 4.. hahaha ultimate fail. Just hoping today is the only day when I don't have to do any work.
As for point 5.. YESS :D Hahahah realised that I had ct my TV time significantly over the 6 months. Decide to catch Cheese in the trap cause I caught the first 2 episodes on TV and my aunts were saying that it s a good show! Really enjoyed the show, except the last few episodes. But overall it was a good show! Cannot imagine me catching up with 14 episodes by Monday and finishing the series today (yup it just ended yesterday night). Even watched the RAW version in Korean before the subs were out! And read a bit of the original webtoon. Guess this is the only time when I feel that I am still a teenager. Hehe love this OST since yesterday:
Okay shall spend some quality time with mum today - hopefully nothing urgent crops up like my past 2 short breaks!!
Would be quite funny to say that my mum and I wanted to get out of Singapore during this period but kinda failed because.. both of us cannot leave our laptops for a day, and my dad forbids :X
Guess my mum is not enjoying her break at all - Especially when she spends more time infront of the laptop than I do. Which I realised that we are the same - slaves for work. Hahaha. But I am definitely more lazy. Hopefully this is not apparent in my work though.
Anyw, read the post about My Sister Bakes, and kinda got me thinking if I should be pursuing what I like than to work my life away. Cause afterall, I started work when I was still 21. And it was shortly after I graduated. Wondered if I have accomplished things that I wanted to do when I'm still young...But I guess that should come in later since I have already applied for ISCA. 3 years more ooops.
